An exceptional venue for an exceptional conference

Why Impact Day takes place at the Saint Magdalene's Church in Bruges

In Flanders, Open Monuments Day will be organised on 8 September by Herita. This heritage organisation manages and restores valuable historical sites in Flanders. In this way, these beautiful but often fragile monuments are preserved for future generations.

This year, 800 monuments are participating in Open Monuments Day. Among them are very special ones, such as Saint Magdalene's Church in Bruges. This church is home to Impact Day on 14 October, an exclusive sector event dedicated to the positive impact your conference can create – not just in your sector, but for society as a whole.

Saint Magdalene's Church is operated by the think tank YOT, a lab for philosophy of life and space for perspective. The church is part of Flanders Heritage Venues, a unique network of state-of-the art conference venues in exceptional architectural heritage. And the word "exceptional" is really appropriate here.

It should come as no surprise that art, culture and heritage are central to a church. But at Saint Magdalene's Church, it does so in a special way. The place is still in use as a place of worship for a wide range of people. At the same time, the church is a gathering place of modern art, with work by Jan De Wachter, Geert Bisschop and Piet Peere, among others.

And there is more to what makes a conference at Saint Magdalene's Church so unique. The venue is completely embedded in the social fabric of the city. Local residents are actively involved as volunteers in the practical organisation. The church is open to both local residents and visitors from far and wide. You even find a cosy coffee bar and a swing in the beautiful building.

Saint Magdalene's Church is located in the heart of historic Bruges. The city's medieval centre has been recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. So the location alone makes your visit to the church worthwhile. As a lover of historical sites or for organising your conference, the choice is yours.

"Saint Magdalene Church in Bruges is an inspirational place where the transition of Christian heritage is made tangible. We focus strongly on the soul of the place and the meaning of Christian heritage for today's seeker of meaning. Contemporary works of art, surprising stimuli and encounters in the church, a training programme and extensive public outreach open up the heritage and spirituality of the building to the visitor."
